About this work

Life applies pressure — training teaches you how to carry it and how to push back.

Everyone carries something. Stress, expectations, personal challenges, uncertainty about the future, and the countless pressures that life places on them every day. We’re tested through setbacks, failures, and moments where progress feels distant or out of reach. Those challenges create a weight that we carry long after the day ends. For many, training becomes a means through which that weight can be confronted. What can’t always be expressed in words is often pushed through physical effort.

In this work, my intent was to capture individuals in moments of effort and endurance. Moments where determination overrides fatigue and focus pushes past doubt. The idea was to show the physical intensity of training while hinting at the unseen battles that bring an individual to the gym.

This experience with these individuals taught me that through training and moments of strain, they aren’t only building physical strength, but learning to carry the weight of life itself through persistence. They transform their burdens into motivation and use training as a way to rebuild, refocus, and reclaim control over their lives.
